CSE to Offer New Graduate Programs for Fall 2009
The College of Saint Elizabeth is rolling out new graduate programs for fall 2009 to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s workplace. One, the Master of Arts in Justice Studies, can be completed fully on-line, through blended courses or on campus, giving students seeking to become managers and leaders in the field of justice added flexibility in their studies. The other new offerings are professional certificates — one in Executive and Career Coaching and another in Social Media Management.
“Our programs are designed to bridge professionals into new career opportunities through flexible, creative and innovative programs,” said Dr. Jacqueline McGlade, dean of Graduate Programs. “We want to offer our graduate students opportunities that are practical and career driven.”
The Master’s in Justice Studies is a 30-credit course that seeks to prepare ethical leaders, managers and executives for social and community services agencies, police departments, courts and correction facilities – to name a few. The program emphasizes the moral, ethical and social justice dimensions of community and law enforcement administration.
Both new certificate programs allow students to develop expertise in new fields by taking five courses that can be applied toward a Master of Science in Management degree.
The certificate in Social Media Management is a first for a New Jersey college. “With the increasing influence of the web and social networking sites on individuals and companies, this certificate is a professional way to train students to survey, scrutinize and manage employees and the internet,” said McGlade. “It will open many doors for individuals in corporations as well as non-profit groups.”
The Executive and Career Coaching certificate will assist students in acquiring and refining their coaching and employee development skills. It will be especially helpful in companies undergoing significant personnel and organizational changes.
